Canadian brides everywhere can rejoice Kleinfeld is coming to Canada! The Hudson Bay has announced that it has made an exclusive deal with Kleinfeld, the licensing deal gives the Bay the exclusive rights to the brand. The 20,000 ft store plans to open in April 2014 at the Queen Street location in Toronto. Bringing the upscale boutique only made sense as it is reported that approximately several thousand Canadian brides travel down to the 35,000 sq ft salon in Chelsea NY, this is hugely due in part to the reality television serious Say Yes to the Dress, brides struggle to find their dream gown. Dresses will probably start at $1,500 but will most likely range from $2,500-$7,500, with 60 designers prices can go as high as $30,000! But as co-owner Ronald Ruthstein says “we’re selling the experience, the dress is just the souvenir” and can you really put a price on having the best wedding dress experience? Apparently you can!
Kleinfeld has been assisting brides find their perfect gown for over 60 years with them first opening their doors in Brooklyn back in 1941. They carry the largest selection of bridal gowns from each of the top American and European bridal designers. They travel around the world twice a year to bring back the latest European bridal gowns which can only be seen at Kleinfeld’s. They employee nearly 200 professionals which include on-site stylist, bridal consultants, custom fitters, sewers, beaders, embrioderers and pressers! Kleinfeld are completely dedicated to their brides and are with them every step of the way from the moment they buy their dress to the day they wear it. Owners even give out their personal phone numbers to their brides just in case they should need special attention while the store is close, talk about customer services! Kleinfelds has been featured in over a dozen bridal magazine, newspaper editorials and editorial segments on almost every major national network channel and has even been featured in movies with scenes from “P.S I Love You” and “Confessions From a Shopaholic” filmed there. Is it really any wonder why they are the destination for brides in the states and soon to be in Canada?
For brides who simply can’t wait a whole year for Kleinfelds to come up and don’t have the option to travel down to New York, pick up Kleinfeld’s book “How to Buy Your Perfect Wedding Dress”. It’s the ultimate guide to choosing the right dress for any bride and any wedding. The book written by owners Ronald Ruthstein and Mara Urshel is filled with advices and covers everything from dresses best for every body type to how to care for your dress before and after the wedding and everything in between! A must read for brides to be or bridal enthusiasts.
As for whether or not the Queen St boutique will be the future setting of a Canadian version of Say Yes to the Dress its too early to say. Other than to say they love the idea Hudson Bay has made no further comment about it. So until then we all have to make to with the original Say Yes to the Dress and Say Yes to the Dress:Atlanta both airing Fridays on TLC.
